Sally sick sack & a PS or two

Standard

My poodle is ill. And feisty- so this means a bit of a wobbly as she exclaims, “I’m ill, ahhh” and “I need medicine”, in between about four hundred sneezes, sniffles and eye rubbing. I’ve been checking her temperature but she hates that. She’s fast asleep and fully dosed up on a good array of meds which will hopefully mean she gets some good rest in.

My throat is prickly and I do not want to get sick. I want to do my last bit of volunteering next week without unnecessary interruptions- I have already had to deal with kitchen renovations this week (which I feel may never end) {summary: burst pipe in the middle of the night while we were sleeping a while ago= flooded kitchen and most of the ground floor of our house- kitchen cupboards soaked up water and swelled- owners of house are redoing the kitchen}. Anyway, I want to work, gym (and swim) and enjoy our time away next weekend. We are taking a long weekend before I start working and we’ll be going to Stanford (SA). I can’t wait! Just us and a beautiful little place! More to come.

The cat has been more assertive. I have been more assertive with the cat too: it now responds to a dog whistle. Am trying to teach it to sit but it looks at me as though she is pharaoh and I am a royal servant.

I drank some med-lemon, which I despise, but I am fighting this battle guns blazing. I refuse to catch these germies. If I do, bye bye voice! Again!

Ps. I am not ready for the coldness of winter. I am, however, ready for lots of delicious big jerseys.

Ps again: it’s our 3 and half year anniversary (!!?!??!!!) next week while we are away- anyone have any cute suggestions for the occasion? (thanks!)

Guest Blog: Suprise!

Mrs. Poodle (Nicole) is as surprised as you all probably are, that I, the Other Mrs. Poodle (Sheree), am making an appearance again after so long. I’m going to give you a highlights package since I’ve been told to get off the computer so the Mrs. can love me up.

1. We’re house shopping for a little starter house of our dreams. Our current house is feeling a little big and it looks like things may be set to change next year and the Mrs. really wants to live with only me so that she can set up house. I can’t think of anything more lovely. There’s no real time line though so for now we just look at houses on the internet and then when we find something we try to be allowed to have a look.

2. We really want lesbian friends. The kind you can hang out with after work or on the weekend and talk about things with. We both enjoy the predominately straight female & gay man crowd we see, but it would be nice to sometimes have the option of talking to others who share similar experiences to us. Oh also, we’d like lesbian COUPLE friends, and not the oh let’s have group sex type of couple friends.. we want the double date kind.

The other night we went to Alexander Bar and there were lots of lesbians there for some reason… BUT we were too shy to go up and talk to anyone. Anyway, one lesbo sent my Mrs. a shot of tequila whilst I was right there. And we all know what tequila means: “Hey, you’re pretty, want to make out?”. Rude. The Mrs. drank it too. I know – I can’t take the Mrs anywhere, SIGH* That lesbo can’t be our friend either. I’d like my new lesbian couple friends to respect our love.

If you want to connect us to some friends, let us know. Blind potential BFF lesbian couple friends dates welcome!

3. The Mrs. is heading for unemployment. She seems quite calm about her contract ending at the end of December and has thus far only applied for one job, even after I’ve been asking her since August to give me her CV so I can post it to all of the hospitals. I even said we could drive the CV around to all the hospitals. I’m writing this mainly so she hopefully does it this week. Seems that this Mrs. Poodle can only dream about not being the primary bread winner forever.

4. We made a list of Top 10 things we want to do together this afternoon. The plan is that we try to do these things by the end of the year. Maybe we’re being a bit optimistic but it can always roll over into the new year.

5. When is our next holiday?? Goodness knows I need it, and I know the Mrs. would love it too.

Our 3 year anniversary is coming up & we’re buying each other something made from “leather”. I know, a whip would be great… but I’ve been banned from talking about such things on this forum.. Anyhoo. It’s a big deal for us because it’s the first anniversary we’ve ever spent together in the same city. I’m intending on whisking the Mrs away on a one night romantic getaway (on the day of) filled with all the things she loves. (Don’t worry – I haven’t spoilt the surprise, the surprise part is the where we are going & the what we are doing bits)

The Mrs. then has annual leave in November and I’ve tentatively negotiated with my boss to give me some time off. I’m new at my job so I don’t have much leave. There is a chance that I may not be able to take the leave if my October doesn’t work out as planned, so to avoid this I need to work EXTRA hard in October so that we can still have our November holiday. We were going away for a few days but then the place we were going to said that they’re selling the place, so now we need to find a new destination. But that’s only for half of it, we’d like to spend some good time in (hopefully) sunny Cape Town and romance in our beautiful city.

That’s all of the highlights. Hopefully I’ll write again soon.

P.S. The chocolate éclairs were DELICIOUS. My Mrs. has a talent for French cuisine. Yumsies!
