Sally sick sack & a PS or two

Standard

My poodle is ill. And feisty- so this means a bit of a wobbly as she exclaims, “I’m ill, ahhh” and “I need medicine”, in between about four hundred sneezes, sniffles and eye rubbing. I’ve been checking her temperature but she hates that. She’s fast asleep and fully dosed up on a good array of meds which will hopefully mean she gets some good rest in.

My throat is prickly and I do not want to get sick. I want to do my last bit of volunteering next week without unnecessary interruptions- I have already had to deal with kitchen renovations this week (which I feel may never end) {summary: burst pipe in the middle of the night while we were sleeping a while ago= flooded kitchen and most of the ground floor of our house- kitchen cupboards soaked up water and swelled- owners of house are redoing the kitchen}. Anyway, I want to work, gym (and swim) and enjoy our time away next weekend. We are taking a long weekend before I start working and we’ll be going to Stanford (SA). I can’t wait! Just us and a beautiful little place! More to come.

The cat has been more assertive. I have been more assertive with the cat too: it now responds to a dog whistle. Am trying to teach it to sit but it looks at me as though she is pharaoh and I am a royal servant.

I drank some med-lemon, which I despise, but I am fighting this battle guns blazing. I refuse to catch these germies. If I do, bye bye voice! Again!

Ps. I am not ready for the coldness of winter. I am, however, ready for lots of delicious big jerseys.

Ps again: it’s our 3 and half year anniversary (!!?!??!!!) next week while we are away- anyone have any cute suggestions for the occasion? (thanks!)

The plague

Standard

Ok, so it’s not the plague. But what started off with a sore throat and some constant sniffing yesterday morning, turned into a horrible creature by the evening- so I went to the doctor.

My ears feel clogged, my eyes feel fuzzy, my nose is both blocked and somehow runny at the same time, my throat is sore and I have too much phlegm to handle. I really struggled to breathe last night due to all my blocked-up-ness, so I spent the night panting and today my tongue feels like it is sandpaper. I forget to mention that I sound half like darth vader.

The meds I was prescribed really knock me out, so I have been sleeping most of the time. Poodle is also sick, with more of a chest issue than what I have, so I give her her medicine and she gives me mine. On this sickness occasion, I have had incredibly shaky hands and so pouring the syrup into a 5ml spoon for her has caused me to mess, a lot.

I’m hoping that the meds work quickly for me, I really don’t like being home sick. I’d much rather be at work. But it’s unrealistic to be sick around sick children because they need to get better, and also, it is unrealistic for me to bend over a lot without my nose flooding everywhere. I have been booked off until Thursday, but let’s hold thumbs that I am better tomorrow.

I need to go cook dinner now. I’m not hungry. My tongue doesn’t taste. This sucks.
